IT may remain a quaint and charming practice confined to the Victorian age, but one Colchester entrepreneur is bidding to bring shoe-shining back to the fore. Gareth Tansey, who set up Dr G’s Sneaker Laundry from his garden shed in 2020, now operates a shop in Colchester High Street.

What a fantastic service! I dropped off two pairs of Axel Arigato trainers —one with a tear in the heel and another which were in a really bad way. To my amazement, both pairs came back looking as good, as new (Tear in the heal repaired). I couldn't be happier with the results. I'll definitely be returning in the future for my trainer cleans and repairs! Thank you, Matthew!

We have used DGSL a few times now, extremely pleased with the results, brought life back into my Valntino’s , saved me having to buy new ones !! We also took Gucci and Dior ladies bags and really happy with the care taken and the end results!

Gareth and the team are some of the most passionate and knowledgeable people in the industry. Nothing is too much trouble. Gareth is honest with all his customers and if he thinks there is alternative cheaper option he will always put that forward. These guys are wonderful! Initially they restored my mulberry handbag and I was over the moon! They sent me updates and pictures of it too! The communication was 5*. Then we took in my mums handbag and it looks wonderful!!!! She is over the moon! Thank you guys! Really reasonably priced and decent, local hardworking people who deserve some recognition 🙂
